Short Story Idea - Bus journey

Bus Journey

A bus powers along a busy town road, slowing to an intersection, cars are moving about in the early morning traffic which has begun to die down as rush hour has faded away and most people are at their desks working.

In side this bus nearly empty sits a young man, silent and dazed from his morning, still recovering from waking up 3 hours before. Lost in no thoughts, as the bus slows to the intersection, he notices in a completely clean street a full bin bag that has been blown into the road by the days unusually strong winds.

The bin bag had been burst open by a car and the bags contents was now every where and the bits of it were being picked up by the wind and danced about which this particular morning appeared beautiful to this young man, he couldn't explain why? He noticed funny things about it like how the know one else seemed to notice it and how nearly every thing from the bag appeared to be white which he thought an unusual colour for rubbish.

As the bus begins to power forward again, looking back on the rubbish as it slowly faded out of sight the young man speculated on why he was in such a happy mood. He believes it was because his morning class had been canceled and he was heading home back to bed.

I did this quick tutorial to learn some more tools in Toom Boom and to understand using arcs for animating characters. I feel I did an ok job, and I learned a couple of new tools. My arcs for the upper body I think are fairly good obviously could be better and with more frames could have a smoother look to it, but the aim was to look at arcs, the legs however don't really have good use of arcs and I think look a bit funny.

Bouncing Ball

I have been doing some animation tests using the traditional bouncing ball to improve my knowledge of timing, spacing, Squash and stretch.

My first Test is Ok but it is a bit choppy, mainly because I used two's and there are no proper in-betweens to smooth out parts of the animation. As well the squash wasn't well spaced and drawn.

The Animan mystery

Animan: "Proffesor I think it might work this time!"


Dr. Kristi: "Hold on, don't get your hopes up"

Animan and Dr. Kristi are working on one of Allison Biodynamics Corporations latest experiments when the machines starts to malfunction. Animan being stronger and tougher than your average human jumps into save the experiment chamber to save their work from being blown up.

All of a sudden Animan is knocked sideways, looking up to see what was the cause he sees a female re engineered human cyborg standing over him, ready to fight.

Animan: "who are you?"

With out saying a word she leaped into the air coming down doing a power punch at him, Animan quick responding slides out of the way. Jumping up and kicking her down. She spinning back punches him knocking him into a transformer stunning him. She moves over to the experiment to destroy it, when the room is surrounded by security. A radio sounds from this mysterious cyborg.

Unknown voice: " Get out of there, it doesn't matter anymore you have done enough."

She then jumped into the air dodging gun fire, making her way to the air ducts where she made her disappearance.

Lelia is about the same hight as animan, she is slim and slender. She well tended dark hair that flows down to her waist, she is usually wearing practical clothes, but does like to wear more extravagant clothes at times.

-Skin: slightly tanned

-Hair: Long dark hair

Personality:

Lelia is loyal to a mysterious person that she receives orders from to carry out various devious tasks in sabotaging Allison Biodynamics projects. She is skilled in the art of stealth and when seen with in the company which is often as she appars to haunt the place, alarms are sounded to alert for her capture. Other than the fact that she works for someone who was once thought to be from a rival company but now thought to be someone on the inside of Allison Biodynamics. There is not much known about her she does display a deviant side from the encounters people have had with her but she has never spoken a word and therefore not a lot can be said about her.

-Likes: Seems to like to dress in formal and extravagant clothes.

-Dislikes: ?

My First Post On my Online Sketch Journal

This blog is to record my animation development through my course at the University of the West of Scotland. It will act as a professional development site to show my progress in animation.

My first post will include this character profile and sketch of Animan, the villian will follow in another post.

Appearance:

Standing only 15 centimetres tall Animan is a handsome looking man although not really a man as he doesn't have anything to qualify him as one, black hear in a neat and well groomed style, pale green eyes giving him superior eye sight to your average human.

He has many outfits provided for him but some that he wears are made of heavily durable materials that are able to withstand many extremities in environments. However he prefers to wear an open shirt with jeans.

-Fitness: A slender build

-Skin: Light pink flash tone

-Hair: Black hair

Personality:

Animan is by nature an inquisitive individual his personality traits stem from basic attributes the scientist making him deemed necessary for his proposed job. He frighted of little and stares danger in the face often, however he is still young and does have an infants mind. Which is the cause of his relatively low concentration levels and why he is not used in many experiments at the this point in his life cycle. Childish and care free Animan likes to play games and converse with every individual he meets, making him well liked by the scientist that look after him.

-Likes: Crème filled fizzy strawberry pencils; smart people; parks;

-Dislikes: Being kicked; not being taken seriously; people thinking he is an ultra real doll and being played with; synthetic DNA eating viruses.

Abilities:

An enhanced metal skeleton making him presumably indestructible; synthetic muscle giving him strength beyond that of natural muscle, engineered organs allow him to cope in all manner of environments particularly ones found on other planets in our solar system; synthetic eyes for sampling more light than humans can allow him to see more detail.

History:

Animan is an experiment by the Allison Biodynamics Corporation, he is the result of extensive research in both cybertronics and genetics. He was initially designed for space exploration and is still one of his primary uses but now is employed in many other fields for the company such as design and testing, rescue and general helping needed by the scientists.

He has an engineered alloy skeleton which is practically impossible to break, genetically engineered synthetic muscle able to apply several times the force of natural muscles hence his strength to carry many times his own weight. As well as enhanced and optimised organs for endurance and harsh environments. The cybertronics team were able to produce the first human intelligent equivalent synthetic brain using many exotic materials to carry out the processing needed to carry out every day functions we do. The brain was modelled on our own but the components that were used were smaller and more optimised for their function and as a result Animan displays intelligence above normal humans even though he has a comparatively small brain. The enhancements that Animan has over your average human is large and extensive and as a result would make him very dangerous if he were to go rogue and attack people so to counter act this the scientists who made him decided to make a scale model of him and reduce his size to a mere 15 centimetres. This would make him relatively harmless and would mean the scientists could get him under control fairly easily. His black hair contains many sensors for detecting various things about the environment, pale green eyes which sample light on many more levels than we do and therefore can see into the infra-red and ultra-violet spectrum's.
